Congratulations on an outstanding season and welcome to the 2010 Global Sports World Series.  Your World Series host will do everything possible to create an experience that the players, coaches, and families will remember for a life time!  

 

How to qualify:

     Teams of ages 9 - 14 qualify to participate in a Global World Series by earning a berth in a Global World Series Qualifier.   

Teams must be registered with USSSA and registered with Global Sports to participate in Global Sports World Series Qualifiers.  Team may register at www.usssa.com.  Global Sports registration is $15 per year and can be registered at the same time as USSSA Baseball.  Please check with your USSSA State Director for qualifiers in your area.

 

How to enter a Global Sports World Series:

 

Teams earning a berth at a Global Sports Qualifier may participate in any state's Global World Series.  Teams must enter the Global Sports World Series at www.usssa.com on a first come, first served basis.  Teams that qualify will not be assured a spot at a specific World Series location.  Qualified teams may enter multiple Global Sports World Series.  Global Sports World Series entry is $895.

 

Global Sports World Series Format:

   Open to all Classifications

Elite World Series participating teams are ineligible to play

Ages 7 - 14

Limited to 24 teams per age group

Pool play followed by championship play.

Teams will play an average of 7 games

Champions of the 3 divisions will be crowned World Series Champion

Teams earn World Series USSSA Points

 

Global Sports World Series Rules:

     

Global Sports World Series will be governed by the USSSA National Baseball Bylaws and Rules unless noted differently below.

 

USSSA Rosters will be the official roster at the GS World Series.  Teams may add two additional players to the official roster at team check-in at the Global Sports World Series

 

USSSA Baseball reserves the right to alter, change, or abbreviate the tournament format when necessary to complete the tournament due to weather.

 

World Series Awards:

     

Team and individual awards will be presented to the champion and runner up of the Red, White and Blue Championship Divisions.

Opening Ceremonies:

     

Opening ceremonies will be held on Wednesday, July 07, at 5:30pm at Henry Parker Park.  Teams should be at field 8 by 5:10pm to stage for the "Parade of Teams".  All teams MUST participate and should be in full uniform.  

 

 

Player Social & Skills Competitions:

     

Team Social will follow opening ceremonies on Wednesday, July 07,2010.  The team meal will be served from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at Henry Parker Park.

 

Skills Competition will follow opening ceremonies on Wednesday, July 07,2010 at Henry Parker Park. 

 

SKILLS COMPETITION DETAILS: The overall objective of the skills competition is to have every player on each team participate and enjoy the social interaction of this tremendous event. No player may enter more than one event.  Awards will be presented to the champion and runner-up in each age division in each skills competition.

 

Round The Horn- (5 Players)

Five (5) players from each team will be allowed to participate.  The players will take their positions in the infield (1B, 2B, 3B, SS, C).  The catcher will start the event.  The catcher will throw to third baseman, third-baseman throws to second baseman, second-baseman throws to shortstop, shortstop throws to first-baseman and first-baseman throws to catcher.  The time will start when the catcher throws and time will stop when the catcher receives the throw from the first-baseman. ANY DROPPED BALLS OR BAD THROWS ARE CONSIDERED LIVE AND TIME WILL KEEP RUNNING!

 

Accuracy Throw - (3 Players)

Three (3) players on each team can participate.  Each player will get three (3) throws to hit the target.  Players must throw behind the marked position on the field.  Players will be awarded 1pt for bouncing the ball into the target and 5 pts for hitting the target on the fly.

 

Base Running - (4 Players)

Four (4) players from each team will be allowed to participate.    Each player will start inside the batters box and run the bases.  Time will start on first step and end when touching home plate.  Any additional player who has not participated in any event can participate.

 

 

Pin Trading:

     

 Pin Trading has become a huge tradition at the World Series.  Players, coaches, and parents will have opportunities to trade pins throughout the week including during the Skills Competitions and Team Social.  Team pins are not mandatory but certainly adds to the fun of this special event. 


We do encourage every team to bring some small item like pins to trade with the other players and teams.  If you decide not to go the pin route, we suggest contacting your local chamber of commerce or visitor’s bureau about obtaining items to trade.

Photographer:

     

Team photos will be taken immediately after team credential check-in.  All teams must be in full uniform.  Action photos will be shot during tournament play.  Families will have an opportunity to view and purchase these photos at the ballpark during the World Series.

 

World Series Admission:

     

 

Admission during the World Series for persons 13 years of age and older will be $8 per day or $25 per person for a World Series Pass.  Children 5 - 12 years of age will be $6 per day or $20 per child for a World Series Pass.  Children 5 years of age and younger are admitted free.  Admission applies to everyone except participating uniformed players and a maximum of three coaches per team.
